Europa
Galileo images of Europa indicated that "warm
ice" or
even liquid water may have existed, and perhaps still exists today
beneath Europa's cracked icy crust.
Impact craters on Europa show that Europa's ice crust may be more than 3 to
4 kilometers thick. Potentially,
life may exist in these deep oceans. There are plans
for a melting probe which can melt through the ice and carry
out investigation in the liquid ocean expected underneath. 'Astronomy Now' Magazine front cover |
